Montessori Preschool Curriculum Years 3-6
Montessori Homeschool Curriculum Years 3-6

** **When I created this blog I had every intention of making all resources free for everyone. However, managing and maintaining a blog requires some expenses. I pledge to make a majority of the content on this blog free for everyone, but in order to keep the blog running, I have to charge a small fee for some of the BEST printables you’ll be needing to do Montessori at home. These fees are SO TINY compared to the hundreds of dollars buying a curriculum would cost you. I hope you enjoy!

Montessori Curriculum

Choosing to use the Montessori Method at home with my kids was just the beginning, not knowing where to start with a Montessori preschool curriculum was the biggest challenge after that. I searched the internet for good, reliable resources to help me build a curriculum for my children’s preschool years, but I was very disappointed when I couldn’t find what I was looking for. There are SO many free resources for homeschooling curriculums and I was astonished that none of them had an authentic Montessori approach to them.

Since I couldn’t find what I needed at the time, we ended up purchasing a Montessori Homeschool Package through the North American Montessori Center. The package came with some tangible materials, a guide for each subject, the year-by-year curriculum, and a nice assortment of PDFs to help make the learning materials. While I am so glad that I had this as a resource, I still wish that this information was more available online (and at a much better price tag!!!). This is one of the several reasons why I felt inclined to share all of the information on this blog with you.

Is this curriculum authentic? Yes!

This checklist is inspired by the same curriculum provided to me in the NAMC package, but it’s been modified in a way that I feel is easier to use and understand. It is what I use with my children at home.

Most Montessori tasks that you find in a classroom are included on this list but know that I did not personally implement every single one of them with my children. Just like in a classroom, some children will be drawn to certain activities and interests more so than others. I encourage you to keep this in mind as you work through the Montessori curriculum with your child. Don’t stress yourself out if your child has no interest in learning about the flags of the world but instead loves learning about the seasons or plants. Put your time, focus, and energy into DIYing the activities that fit your child and your household.

Also, just because authentic Montessori schools do it one way (something Maria Montessori was very strict about), that doesn’t mean you have to pigeonhole yourself on every single activity- keep an open mind and be creative when covering the topics!

Use this checklist as a tool in your Montessori Toolbox, one that I so very badly wish that I had when I began!
